Our congratulations go out to the development teams of both VirtualBox and the Linux Kernal.
As both teams push forward enhancing their projects, we come to this point, where success can mutually be enjoyed. As VirtualBox releases version 2.0, the Linux Kernal team releases Kernel version 2.6.27. Most importantly for the VirtualBox community is the fact that two project work together !.
Mandriva Linux 2009 RC1 was successfully installed and runs in VirtualBox 2.0. Mandriva 2009 RC1 is running Kernel 2.6.27. Prior to the release of Kernel 2.6.27, many of the 2.6.2x releases failed to load or run properly in VirtualBox 1.6.x series. The problems are well noted in both the Linux Kernel Development and VirtualBox forums.
Our Mandriva 2009 RC1 installation still exhibits errors that appear to be KDE4 related. Hopefully this is the case and the errors are not related to the Kernel or Visualizer.
Also today, Ubuntu released version 8.10 Alpha 5 running Kernel 2.6.27. We look forward to other OS distributions updated releases using the new Kernel.
Enjoy
